On Sunday, Aug. 28, Pleasantville police responded to Pizza Di Roma (North Main Street) for a report of a male subject being chased by a Honda.
A witness met with officers and provided a description and a registration of the suspect vehicle.
K9 Officer Korey Crosby observed the vehicle at the intersection of Leeds Avenue and Main Street. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at North Main Street and Cedarcrest Avenue.
K9 Officer Crosby conducted an open-air sniff with his K9 partner “Deuce” which resulted in a positive indication, police said.
A search was conducted on the vehicle. As a result of the search, a handgun was located in a backpack on the front seat passenger floor. 36 grams of marijuana along with two digital scales and packaging materials, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, Jeins Colon-Marrero, 20, of Pleasantville, and a passenger, Jordani Martinez-Casiano, 23, of Pleasantville, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm while committing a drug offense.
Both Colon-Marrero and Martinez-Casiano were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a hearing.
